Is Advertising Through Social Networks Effective?

Published by mogili at 10:24 am under Social Networking Edit This

The internet is a strange place. It is said that three months on the internet is equal to one normal calendar year, because, things keep moving at a faster clip on the net. This has resulted in arrival of web 2.0 or the arrival of social networks.

The web 2.0 world is more than mere browsing on the net. It is something more than getting information. The web 2.0 is aimed at inter-connectivity and interaction between users. In fact, it has emerged as the latest craze among the net users.

The popularity of sites like You Tube, Twitter, Orkut, MySpace and Face Book have taken the world by storm. Students, youngsters and old alike have taken to social networks instantly. There is craze for sharing news with others.

Share everything including knowledge, personal and professional life seems to be the new mantra of the netizens. You can share everything on these sites including photos. These have also become the hunting grounds for HR managers to recruit personnel for their companies.

This situation has been cleverly utilized by advertisers to encash on the social networking craze to maximize their sales. Now, you can view ads on You Tube.  Ad agencies are adroitly using this medium to derive maximum mileage. It would appear that the TV and print media are likely to be relegated to the back ground and social networks are going to be the places for effective advertising.

Do you agree with this assessment of mine?  I would love to hear your comments on the subject.
